This article is about supplements that improve athletic performance. Carbohydrates taken immediately before or after exercise improve glycogen (complex sugar) stores and delay fatigue. Protein and amino acids over a longer period of time improve body composition to improve performance. Vitamins C and E and carotenes reverse oxidative stress from intense exercise.
High intensity exercise is improved by short term creatine loading. Bicarbonate loading improves high effort exercise for 1-7 minutes. Caffeine delays fatigue and may improve performance of high intensity exercise.
CONCLUSION: Supplements, as above, can improve athletic performance.
