Angiogenesis is a normal process of forming new blood vessels. It takes place in growth, menstrual cycles, healing, etc. It is necessary for cancers to grow and to metastasize. It occurs in macular degeneration and hinders the vision. Blockers of angiogenesis are beneficial in cancer, macular degeneration and other disease processes.

Dr. Judah Folkmann studied angiogenesis for many years and developed many related study techniques. He was mentor to Dr. William Li. Dr. Li’s video on angiogenesis can be viewed on TED.com.
