A Homeopathic treatment of parasites, Haemonchus contortus (Nematode) in lambs was compared by the authors with a conventional medication, doramectin (antihelminthic). The homeopathic remedies used included Ferrum phosphoricum, Arsenicum album and Calcarea carbonica, and a fecal counts of parasites were done at 18, 38 and 68 days. The animals treated with the homeopathic medications had a significant reduction of parasite counts and had daily weight gains higher than those animals treated with pharmaceuticals.

A cost benefit analysis of the homeopathic therapies shows them to be more cost-effective than pharmaceutical treatments.

CONCLUSION: The homeopathic treatment was effective in treating lamb parasite infections. The lambs treated with homeopathic remedies showed superior average daily weight gains, higher hemoglobin levels and lower fecal egg counts. Homeopathy is cost-effective for this treatment.

Haemonchus contortus is a parasite which infects cattle, sheep, goats and wild ruminants. This study shows the effectiveness of homeopathy in treating parasites. The standard medical treatments for parasites can lower hemoglobin levels as a side effect. The treatments with homeopathics do not have side effects.

Nematodes are round worms. Helminth is a classification that includes all parasitic worms.
