Multiple sclerosis (MS) is considered to be an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the myelin layer around the neurons. Abnormal cells from the thymus produce chemicals that destroy the myelin in MS. Geographic studies of MS implicate a role for vitamin D abnormalities and for dietary pattern influence on the disease.

Dietary experience shows the benefits of keeping saturated fats low, eating three fish meals a week and discontinuation of allergenic foods if you have MS.

Long term hyperbaric oxygen treatments are of benefit in MS.

Transdermal histamine and adenosine monophosphate have been shown to be of benefit in MS.

Chronic infections, either viral or bacterial, should be actively treated. Viral infections, respiratory infections and sinusitis are known to cause attacks of MS.

Balance and muscle tone problems due to multiple sclerosis should be treated with an active exercise program.

Dr. Kidd lists the following beneficial supplements for multiple sclerosis
